Collection contains materials relating to the reorganization of the University of Maryland System, particularly Graham's chairmanship of the Senate's ad hoc Committee on Higher Education Reorganization (May 1987-1988). Also contains papers, publications, clippings, reports, book chapters, and correspondence relating to Graham's research interests.

Admin/Biographical History

Hugh Davis Graham (1936-2002) was a history professor at UMBC, as well as at Johns Hopkins University and Vanderbilt University. His research and writing focused on the civil rights movement. His book, "The Civil Rights Era," was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. At UMBC he served as president of the faculty senate from 1980-1981 and as Dean of Graduate Studies from 1982-1985.
